Retirement announcement
After over 45 years of providing ophthalmology services to the Henderson community, Dr. Daniel Bernstein has announced his retirement. Dr. Bernstein opened Four County Eye Associates in January of 1976. He was joined by Dr. Cynthia Hampton in August 1990. Through all these years, he has dedicated his long career to providing eye care to the residents of Henderson, Vance County and the surrounding area.
Dr. Bernstein earned his Medical Degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1968. He proudly served our country as a Captain in the Army Medical Corp in Vietnam and earned the Bronze Star for heroic and meritorious service. He also was awared the Army Commendation Medal for sustained acts of heroism. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan in 1975.
Dr. Bernstein is a member in good standing of the American Medical Association, the North Carolina Medical Society, the North Carolina Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Bernstein will be returning to Richmond, Virginia to be near his son's family and his grandchildren, on December 21. HIs son Hal has followed in his father's footsteps to practice Ophthalmology and is a Glaucoma Specialist. His son Josh is a Sales Manager at Bailey's Fine Jewerly.
Daniel Bernstein will be greatly missed by all his patients, his staff and by his Maria Parham Health Family.
