Board Certified Ophthalmologist
William W. Foster, MD received his Bachelors of Science degree in mathematics and his Medical Degree from Wake Forest University. Dr. Foster completed internships in medicine, neurology and psychiatry at Bowman Gray School of Medicine and was trained in ophthalmology at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has been in practice in Raleigh since 1976 when he joined the practice of Dr. Vonnie Hicks. Dr. Foster performed the first cataract surgery using an intraocular lens implant in Raleigh in 1979. Dr. Foster is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a member of the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS), Wake County Medical Society (WCMS) and Raleigh Academy of Medicine.
Although he has retired from performing surgery, Dr. Foster remains devoted to his practice of providing quality eye care to his patients. His many years of experience is a valued asset to the The Raleigh Eye Center team.
