In all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, taking care of your eyes might have fallen to the back of your mind. That’s why we’re sending out a friendly year-end reminder to take a good look at (pun intended) your vision insurance before the year runs out. We would hate it if you let vision insurance benefits which you and/or your employer have already paid for go to waste!
If you’re new to vision insurance, here are some common eye care benefits offered by most vision insurance plans. If you have any of these benefits, and haven’t used them yet this year, be sure to schedule an appointment with our Raleigh eye doctors right away!
Most vision insurance plans offer a comprehensive eye exam with either a very low copay, or none at all. Most of our patients who have vision insurance pay around $15-$30 for their copay, although of course, the amount you pay will depend entirely on the provider and plan you use. In any case, we highly recommend stopping in for an eye exam if you have this benefit. It’s a great way—the only way, really—to make sure your eyes are in good health, and catching small issues early.
This is the reason most people enroll in vision benefits—to realize significant savings on prescription glasses and/or contact lenses. Most vision plans offer a dollar allowance which can be applied towards glasses or contacts. You can also usually save money on optional lens enhancements like impact resistance, anti-glare and light-to-dark tinting. Make sure to take advantage of these benefits if you haven’t already!
Raleigh Eye Center is committed to providing affordable, accessible eye care to any Raleigh residents who need it. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, and most medical insurance plans, including:
Blue Cross/Blue Shield
United Healthcare
Aetna
Cigna
Vision Service Plan (VSP)
Superior Vision
EyeMed (Access, Insight and Aetna plans only)
And more!
With that said, not all of our Raleigh eye doctors accept the same plans, so be sure to discuss network participation with our staff when you are scheduling your appointment. If you need help financing your eye care or a particular treatment, we are happy to work with you to create a financing plan that suits your needs and budget.
From all of us here at Raleigh Eye Center, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!
